Menards

I am absolutely irate right now! Paid over $300 for an exterior door for my business, hired a contractor to install it, well, as we are taking the cardboard and wrap off we noticed it was dented EVERYWHERE. Called the store and the manager was very professional, was going to order me a new DOOR ONLY (no frame) so I can grab that, swap it out and return the damaged one. Then I get a call back from the GM saying “I need to return it first, they won’t let a $300 door go out of their store without being paid for”, but then blamed me for the damaged door about how “I picked it out”. I BOUGHT IT ONLINE, everything was waiting for me when I got there! So he wants me to leave a big gaping hole in the back of my business with thousands of dollars of products inside, while I now waste 2 hours of my time just driving and either returning the door or buying a new one?! What kind of customer service is this?! This “GM” Brad is absolutely clueless and kept talking about policy?! What’s the policy on selling damaged goods?! Considering the damage was behind the cardboard how would I even know?! Ridiculous! Do NOT shop here, they will steal your money and sell you damaged products! I just want to thank the super sweet, older gentleman in the light switch department for taking the time to help me get everything off my husbands ridiculous list. He not only walked over to show me where each item was but he was very knowledgeable on whatever I was picking up. I showed him photos of what I had existing in my current house and needing for our basement refinishing job, he knew where to get what. He also was trying to help me find the correct light switch covers (the better priced ones) when we couldn’t find them. When we couldn’t find them, he was going to check the computer system to see if they had more elsewhere in the back. I remembered his name on the name tag but completely forgot what it was since then. Just wanted to take a minute and acknowledge someone for going above and beyond for me. I really did appreciate his help otherwise I would have been looking all over the place to get everything my husband needed.

We always find everything that we need at Menards. They have an incredible selection. They have a wide variety of many items. Food, pet supplies, tools, patio furniture and grills. Hardware, HomeGoods paint. Almost everything. They even carry and extremely wide selection of lawn and garden. And here's the kicker, they sell everything that you would imagine you would need for lawn and garden work. Plants soils mulch flowers fertilizer seeds mowers weed eaters pressure washers generators lawn and garden tools weed eaters blowers gas and electric of every version. So it seems like they carry everything you might need. But this is the super strange and incredibly ridiculous thing about Menards. They don't and never have sold lawn tractors. So you can get even equipment to pull behind your lawn tractors. Even blades and belts spark plugs and filters. But not the tractor. But that somewhere else. I imagine big John Menard sitting behind his desk smoking a cigar and issuing a decree that Menards will never sell lawn tractors. Real weird

UNFRIENDLY.STAFF.EVERY.TIME. Staff NEVER SAYS HELLO NOR OFFER HELP. I flagged a staff down for help but realized she was on the cordless store phone with perhaps another staff. I stood there awkwardly as I waited for her to finish, which felt like eternity. When she did, there was NO APOLOGY, NO HELLO, NO SMILE. LATER, 2 male and female staff at the closet dept. counter saw me, but neither bothered to greet nor offer any help. The male walked right next to me to hang something onto the shelf and simply walked away. He lingered around, hiding in aisles, likely trying to avoid having to help customers. It's UNFORTUNATE to witness the fast DECLINE of decent customer service and common courtesy!!! I abhor shopping here simply because of its unfriendly staff but made the mistake of returning because I was in the area. Thank goodness, Mary at the checkout was cheerful and friendly, which I appreciated so much. As brief as our encounter was, she was a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of them. The rest of the staff seriously NEEDS to step up their customer service game or be replaced by ROBOTS where they won't be expected at act like humans. Will not return.
